| Stage | What happens | Threshold | Your decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booking call | You describe the unit, what it does and the last clean | Only upkeep is overdue, nothing is wrong | Do the owner jobs first; book if unsure |
| Diagnosis | Air path, coil, fans, seal and temperatures looked at | A cause beyond upkeep turns up | Hear the cause before any price |
| Upkeep jobs | Coil or filter work you ask about | Anything beyond the diagnosis | Ask at booking whether it is extra |
| Quote | Parts and labour priced for the fault found | A figure you have not agreed | Approve it, ask questions, or stop there |
| The next day | Temperatures given time to settle | Still off the setpoint 24 hours later | Phone back with the reading |
| Call when | the handbook jobs are dated and the unit still runs warm, runs without a pause or sounds wrong. Sub-Zero Repair Issaquah, (425) 272-6613 | ||
The rows follow the visit in order, and the last column is the choice left to you at each stage.
Booking: what to have ready
The call goes faster with a few facts to hand. Note the model details from the unit’s tag if you can find it, what the unit is doing and since when, the date of the last condenser clean and filter change, and anything that has changed around it: new trim at the kickplate, a rug pushed against the louvres, a remodel that boxed the grille in. The phone is answered 24/7, and working hours are every day, 8 am to 8 pm.
An overdue clean with no symptom may need only the owner jobs in this handbook.
The diagnosis: what a technician looks at
A technician will usually start where the manufacturer’s troubleshooting does: the air path and the condenser, then whether the doors close properly and the seal is whole. From there the look moves to the fans, the temperatures in each compartment against their setpoints, and the machine compartment behind the grille or kickplate, with a meter on the controls where a reading is needed. The aim is a cause you can see or measure.
The quote: nothing starts before you agree it
The $89 covers the trip and the whole diagnosis. If the technician finds a fault, you hear what it is and what fixing it costs, and you decide. Whether cleaning or filter work you ask for on the day sits inside the $89 or is quoted separately is worth asking when you book. Say yes and the $89 is deducted from the repair bill; say no and the visit ends at the diagnosis.
After the visit
Give the unit a day. Temperatures can take up to 24 hours to settle after a condenser clean, so a warm reading that evening is not yet a verdict. Read it again the next day, note the figure beside the visit date, and if the number is still off, call Sub-Zero Repair Issaquah at (425) 272-6613.
Owners also ask
Is a maintenance visit a fixed package?
Think of it as a diagnosis rather than a package. The flat $89 pays for the drive out and the whole diagnosis; approve a repair and that $89 is subtracted from its bill. Ask at booking whether a coil cleaning is inside that or extra. To book, call Sub-Zero Repair Issaquah at (425) 272-6613.
Should I clean the condenser before the technician comes?
If it is due, yes. Cleaning the coil is an owner job on the manufacturer's own instructions, and it is the first thing Sub-Zero's troubleshooting asks you to check. Mention the date you cleaned it, because temperatures can take up to a day to settle after a clean.
Does Sub-Zero require a yearly professional visit?
The use-and-care guides list owner jobs only: the condenser every six to twelve months, and the water filter and air cartridge about once a year where fitted. A visit earns its place when one of those jobs is done and the unit still crosses a threshold in the table.
